Arrival Time at Location: 6:15am

Performance Time: Approximately 6:45am-9:00am

• Start playing around 6:45am or when we see the first runner

Attire: WGTB & BTB: Jelly Bean Shirt day.  Wear any WGTB/BTB shirt you own. WGTB: Solid BLACK on the bottom.  BTB: Blue jeans on the bottom. Assistants: Black on the bottom.

I recommend dressing in layers. It will be cold when we unload and start playing but the kids will warm up as time goes on.

Playlist: I will put our tunes on a “loop”. When possible, we will change drummers and soloists each time we play the song, so please tell your Beater to BE READY

Specific Directions: GIVE YOURSELF EXTRA TIME. You will have to go a long way around the marathon route to get to our spot

IF YOU ARE TRAVELING ON HWY 41:

• Take the Herndon exit and travel east to Willow

• IF YOU LIVE EAST OF WILLOW you can get onto northbound Willow from any major street

• IF YOU LIVE WEST OF WILLOW: You can get onto northbound Willow from any major street EXCEPT TEAGUE

• Turn North onto Willow. STAY IN THE RIGHT LANE TO AVOID MARATHON PARTICIPANTS WAITING TO TURN INTO THEIR PARKING LOT.

• Turn West onto Copper

• Drive past Chestnut (stop sign) Maple and Cedar (both have traffic lights)

• The next left turn is Millbrook. No traffic light.

• Turn South on Millbrook

• Millbrook turns into Ft Washington Rd

• Park in the River View Shopping Center lot.

• You should be able to see our van & trailer from Ft. Washington Rd. Turn into the Starbucks driveway then turn left and drive past the strip of businesses. You can park in the dirt lot close to Friant Road.

• Park as close to our site as possible.

• PLEASE DROP YOUR BEATER OFF AT OUR TRAILER BEFORE GOING TO STARBUCKS FOR COFFEE :>)

Additional Comments:   

• Don’t forget we FALL BACK. after Saturday Night. Please make sure the clock you are using is set back an hour or you will get to our site REALLY EARLY :>)

• Please sign up for food on the on-line list at the top of this page.

• For this gig we are part-time players and part-time cheerleaders. Whichever WGTB group isn’t playing their tunes, is cheering for the runners. They like it when we are loud and energetic. Parents you are highly encouraged to join in the cheer leading fun. Feel free to make a paper banner/poster letting the runners know WGTB is cheering for them.

This will be a great gig.  We will play through our tunes as many times as necessary to encourage MOST of the marathon runners going by.

Parents are encouraged to bring chairs. This is a great opportunity to get to know ‘Beater families

After we finish playing it could take a LONG time to get out of the marathon traffic. EVERYONE is trying to get out at the same time. Plan for a long wait.
