Arrival Time at Location: Drumline & Beyond the Beat: Set up: 4:00 pm

Rookies & Secondary: Arrive at 5:30 pm

Approximate Completion of rehearsal: 8:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Specific Directions:

• Take the 180 and exit south on Chestnut.
• Turn left on Butler Ave
• Turn right on Winery Ave
• Turn right again on Townsend Ave. You can park along the street or in the parking spaces on Garden Ave.

Additional Comments: This will be a hurry-up-and-wait kind of night depending on how quickly the sound guy can get a good sound out of us and the video guy can understand when to get the camera on the correct area to capture the featured sections and soloists. Please help your child understand they may be sitting more than they would like but we need them to take deep breaths, and not get whiny about the situation. The fewer distractions the directors and tech crew all have, the faster this process will go.

6:30-7:00pm: All Beaters in the Green room to hang out. Secondary, be ready to move on stage at 7:00pm.

Performance Time: 7:00-8:30pm

Packing Up: Immediately after the concert, we will need to pack up just like a regular gig

Attire: CHANGE – PLEASE NOTE. YOU WILL BRING TWO SHIRTS

MAIN PERFORMANCE: OFFICIAL SHIRT, solid black PANTS ONLY, NO SHORTS, solid black socks, solid black shoes (no stripes, piping, etc in any color but BLACK.  Same with belts; ALL BLACK).

EXTRA SHIRT – FINALE PERFORMANCE: JELLYBEAN OVER YOUR OFFICIAL BLUE SHIRT. Keep the same bottoms. (if you don’t have an extra shirt, please just wear your regular WGTB shirt).

NO SHORTS PLEASE.  We need to look as spiffy as possible.

One of my favorite bands in town has agreed to come play for YOU! This will be a really cool experience for your beater to be exposed to some talented musicians, one of them a former Tetris world champion!

These FREE workshops are intended for anyone moving up to Beyond the Beat, currently in Beyond the Beat, and anyone already in Secondary who would like a head start in reading. We will be learning some basic ideas such as time, rhythm, scales, reading in a key signature, feeling what you read, how to practice, and more to prepare your beater for the next level of advanced musicianship. Everyone must bring a binder with page protectors, basic hand exercises (CLICK HERE FOR PRINTABLE PDF) a pencil, paper to take notes, and eagerness to learn!

If you are moving up to BTB, plan on being at these workshops. You may feel left behind at camp if you don’t!

Heads up, I may request some people participate in recording sessions MONDAY NIGHT for any new camp songs. I’ll keep everyone updated for this.

Hello!

This day will be for our move-in at Fresno Pacific. We are going to need all people to help with getting each room set up. Those rooms consist of the Main ensemble room, mallet room, hand drum room, and drum-set room.

Time: Move-in starts at 2 pm, and if we’re quick, we can get it done in an hour. Please make sure you consult the room teacher to make sure the room is set up for them!

Attire: Please dress lightly. It will be the hottest part of the day and we will mostly be outside.

Location: Fresno Pacific University, Warkentine Theatre. Same spot as the Big Show.

This year, WGTB is hosting our summer camp at Fresno Pacific University! All camp-related events will take place there. Below is a list of when your child will be participating in the camp. This schedule does not include times for helpers, as I sent a separate email about that.

At the moment, we have all the student help we need. However, if you or your child would like to assist, please let Brenda or me know in case we need extra help. We typically welcome as much assistance as possible!
