Brenda's Bio:
Brenda Myers holds a Music Performance degree from CSU Fresno and received her credential from Fresno Pacific University. In 2006, she received her masters in West African/Caribbean Music and Culture. She is a freelance drummer/ percussionist in the Fresno area. Her specialties are Afro Cuban and Brazilian percussion, theatre, orchestra, and Contemporary Christian music.From 1983 through 2001, Brenda was a Percussion Specialist, first with Fresno Unified School District and later, Buchanan Educational Center in Clovis Unified School District. During this period, her elementary, intermediate and high school percussion ensembles performed for California State music conventions, community events, and many parades including the Carnival Parade in San Francisco. Brenda's current group, the "We Got the Beat" Youth Percussion Band has been busy performing locally and statewide for events such as: Senator Chuck Poochigian fund-raiser, with Pete Escovedo at the Oakland Day of Percussion, The Big Fresno Fair, the California Educator’s Convention in Sacramento and The National Association of Music Merchants Trade Show in Anaheim. Brenda is currently teaching through the People School of Creative Arts. Her program includes over 70 percussion students.
